WHO IS AROUND THE BEND ADVENTURES?

Around the Bend Adventures is a family owned and operated business based in Flagstaff, Arizona. We provide day hikes, day tours, multi day hikes and customized tours at Grand Canyon and throughout Arizona. We are fully insured and licensed to operate tours at the Grand Canyon.

WHO ARE OUR GUIDES?

Our guides all have exceptional experience in the Grand Canyon area and have been trained in wilderness first response; CPR and airway management; proper back country food handling; and have a wealth of knowledge about the area's geology, wildlife and people. We choose people who are friendly, outgoing and passionate - and we prefer (but don't guarantee) a good sense of humor.

WHAT ABOUT TRANSPORT?

We currently provide either Ford Econoline vans or Chevy Suburbans for our customers. Either way we ensure that our vehicles are comfortable and mechanically sound.

The heart of Around The Bend Adventures lies in the depths of the Grand Canyon itself. For eight years, I spent my summers driving or rowing a boat on the Colorado river. Seeing the canyon from the inside out amazed me. I was fortunate to spend enough time to form a true passion for this amazing place. At first it was the thrill of the whitewater that drew me in and over time a deep appreciation for the canyon's geology, wildlife and scenery created a desire that I simply had to adhere to. I couldn't help myself from returning to the river each summer.

In the 8 years that I spent on the river, my desire to stay in the canyon grew - and so did my family. With my first child on the way, I began to think of ways that I could stay in the canyon without being away from home for extended periods of time. It was in this soul-seeking time that I had an epiphany: it was not only the canyon that I felt so attached to - but the people that I led through it. I realized how much I enjoyed seeing the delight in the eyes of guests who were seeing the canyon for the first time. I loved to watch people loose themselves and let go of the outside world. The Grand Canyon has the ability to make you forget what day of the week it is and then return you feeling refreshed and ready for a new start. And as I watched people I began to see that one of the most rewarding aspects of taking them on the river expeditions were the hikes that we were taking on a daily basis.

With this in mind, I began thinking about ways that I could share the canyon from "rim down" instead of "river up". As I researched the possibilities, I realized that there was a real opportunity for a company to provide personalized, top-of-class guiding services. Around the Bend Adventures is the result - a company that has only well thought out itineraries, quality equipment, comfortable transportation and most importantly - passionate, knowledgeable,certified guides.

I didn't start this company as a money making venture. I started it because I truly want to earn an honest living taking people to a place that I love more than any other place on this planet. I feel that each person - regardless of how they see the canyon - will remember it forever. I just want you to see a little more of it. Because hey... you never know what amazing sights await you... just around the bend.
